"Serve something that is bigger than yourself."

After attending a presentation by Oprah Winfrey in summer 2017, I was inspired to look outside myself and identify a way to serve a broader community. Although I'm only in high school, I wanted to make a positive difference in other girls' lives across the world.

 

After talking to a good friend in India, Anushka, about my experience,  she suggested we help those affected by natural disasters or by unfavorable circumstances at no fault of their own. Our goal with the Coconut Project is to:

       *Provide hygiene kits

       *Provide educational materials

       *Ultimately share love and hope for a brighter future

 

Phase I, delivering hygiene kits to the SOS Children's Village Orphanage in Bangalore, India, was completed in early January 2018. The next step, delivering children's books to the same orphanage and continuing to perpetuate outreach to other communities is underway now.
